Our Project
Gaza Animal Care is an international partnership of people who are inspired by St. Francis’ love for animals. The organization also is based upon friendship between all peoples to work together in kindness for the most vulnerable members of any society, its animals.
The team of animal rescuers in Gaza are Walid, Abboud and Mo. They and their families have worked together for over 20 years; helping feed, sterilize and medically treat stray cats, dogs, donkeys and even a chicken. Animals that are ill or unable to survive on their own are taken into the sanctuary until they recover or permanently if it is needed. Currently, they have several lame and blind dogs and cats that are in permanent accommodation.
The other members of Gaza Animal Care are located in throughout Europe and the United States. We take inspiration from the friendship of all different faiths that have characterized the Palestinian people historically. We have tremendous respect and concern for our friends in Gaza. We do our best to support them.
Helping feed and care for the animals has been very difficult since a blockade in was imposed 2007, followed by a series of devastating wars. The economy of Gaza has been shattered for well over a decade, making operations nearly impossible to fund with local support. Gaza Animal Care was formed to help pay for food, veterinarian care and medical supplies.
Since the war in Gaza began in October 7, 2023, the situation has become horrifically difficult, beyond our ability to describe. Our team in Gaza is at the edge of starvation, yet still buys animal food and medicine at black market prices to keep the strays and sanctuary animals alive.
The animals rescue group in Gaza have survived bombing, snipers, disease and three “flour massacres”, and yet they still continue to help the animals. The example of St. Francis is central to how we all live. Caring for animals is a deep part of our spirituality.
We now feel that the situation is too dangerous. Already, Walid’s uncle and one of his cousins have been killed from bombing and snipers. We are doing our best to convince them and their families to leave Gaza until the situation becomes more peaceful and stable. We think we can get them to safety if we can raise sufficient funds. We have arranged care for the animals, in case they do leave, from individuals nearby who are determined to stay.
Please help us get these beautifully kind and compassionate souls to safety.
They have given so much in the most difficult circumstances.
They deserve peace and safety. Please donate to help save their lives. >> Donation page

Who we are
I was born in Gaza and lived here all my life. I’ve been taking care of unloved & unwanted stray animals for almost twenty years now. I started long before I was an adult, taking care of the abandoned, abused and starving cats in my neighborhood. My mission is to rescue these precious souls from the streets of misery and offer them the love and care they deserve.
Growing up in Gaza has taught me resilience from a young age, instilling in me a deep sense of determination to create a better future for my family and community. Despite the complexities of our surroundings, I remain steadfast in my commitment to efficiency and effectiveness, always striving to innovate and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of our work. With my children as my motivation, I approach each day with a sense of purpose, knowing that the work we do here has the power to shape the future for generations to come.
With six decades of life experience under my belt, I’ve cultivated a profound passion for animal care and rights that fuels my every endeavor. Nestled within the bustling landscape of the U.S., I’ve dedicated myself to advocating for those without a voice, tirelessly working to ensure the well-being and protection of our furry and feathered friends. As a fervent advocate for animal rights, I believe that compassion and empathy should extend to all beings, regardless of species. As President, I am deeply committed to leveraging my experience and expertise to champion the cause of animal welfare on a global scale, fostering a world where kindness and respect are extended to all living beings.
I am from Switzerland. Started working as school teacher, now freelance webmarketer. Vegan since 13 years, I was active in a number of animal welfare associations and now devote myself to Gaza Animal Care, which enables me to give an even more concrete aspect to my spirituality by rediscovering the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi through the wonderful work of our Gazan friends.
Born and raised in Gaza, I’ve witnessed firsthand the struggles of our community, shaping my unwavering commitment to grassroots change. My work is a calling—a calling to stand in solidarity with the marginalized and amplify their voices in pursuit of a brighter tomorrow. I embrace the challenges that come my way, knowing that each hurdle is an opportunity to sow the seeds of progress and hope in the land I proudly call home.
